MacarOOni & Cheese Bars

  • 1/2 cup salted butter
  • 1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
  • 1/4 teaspoon chai spice blend (pinch each of cardamom, cinnamon and cloves)
  • 3/4 teaspoon fresh orange zest
  • 1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 3/4 cup sharp cheddar cheese, grated
  • 1/2 cup dried fruit (mango, cranberry, etc), diced
  • 1 (3.5-ounce) can shredded sweetened coconut
  • 1/2 cup pecans, chopped

Preheat oven to 350 degrees (325 degrees for glass dish).   In 13X9-inch pan, melt butter.  Sprinkle crumbs over butter.  Stir chai spice and orange zest into sweetened condensed milk and pour evenly over crumbs.  Top evenly with cheese, dried fruit, coconut and pecans.  Press down gently.  Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes or until lightly browned.  Cool thoroughly before cutting into 24 squares.
